Only a couple of weeks ago Celtic launched their latest and greatest new home strip - something I was pretty annoyed with given I'd bought the last one and it'd only been out for one season. Amongst the threads of discussion over the new kit launch there was talk over Umbro's contract - it's up for renewal at the end of the season. Well I've just read on the BBC site that Celtic have signed a deal with Nike which commences July 2005 - bye bye Umbro, hello another new strip!
Roll on 2006 when the Carling sponsorship deal expires and Celtic probably get another new strip. All in all it looks like we're going to be changing our strips more than Man Utd!
On the plus side (hopefully) that should mean more money for Martin O'Neill to spend.
Update: an interesting read on the financial implications as well as some talk of Nike sweatshops!
