Google Reader

Just tried Google Reader, Google's attempt at a web based feed reader announced at Web 2.0 this week. First off, being a regular user of Bloglines, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to export my feeds from Bloglines and import them to Reader. Hats off to both of them for that. However adding a single feed isn't as straightforward. In Bloglines you can just enter the blog url (e.g. http://andy.blog-city.com) and it will find the feeds for it, whereas Reader requires the full feed url.

Reader looks like it will be that bit better to use in the long term though. It uses AJAX (as in this not this or this)  to create a much nicer interface than the frames based one that Bloglines employs. That said it's certainly not as slick as you'd expect though coming from Google. It's been particularly slow at times for me and others too.

It's early days though and it's only in beta so I expect it'll only improve.
